Mikey Loves Zoey Legal Fund

My friend Mike is a single father sinking in a vicious battle for paternal rights. His greatest hope is simple and fair: he wants joint custody of his beautiful daughter, Zoey.
Unfortunately for Mike and Zoey, they haven't seen each other since November 2013.
Why? His ex-partner has refused to share Zoey, and since Mike was never married to Zoey's mother, there is little he can do to stop her- without legal help.
A lot of you folks might personally know Mike and have some understanding of this unacceptable situation. If you don't, here's the deal:
Mike has a full-time job, pays child support every month, and has no criminal record or issues with substances. Furthermore, he has never abused a loved one in ANY sense of the word. Mike is, in fact, a mild-tempered, responsible adult and loving person. In other words, there is NO REASON, legal or otherwise, that his ex-partner should deny his human right to help raise their child.
Every effort Mike has made to reach an agreement with his ex has been fruitless. If he wants to see Zoey any time soon, he has no choice but to "lawyer up". The average attorney's fees for a custody case range between $3000 and $5000. That amount is significantly more than his monthly income- yet, he doesn't qualify for legal assistance.
Mike loves his daughter dearly and needlessly misses her everyday. He will not be able to attend her 7th birthday party or see her off on the first day of school. I want to end my friend's suffering and restore his role as a happy father. It is my hope that we can raise enough funds to get him back into his daughter's life where he belongs. Any amount, great or small, would be HUGELY APPPRECIATED and will go DIRECTLY to the legal costs of reuniting Mike and Zoey.
