Greetings friends. I have just entered and been accepted to a PhD program in Transformative Studies with an emphasis in Consciousness Studies at C.I.I.S in San Francisco. As many of you know, my work focuses on exploring the many ways humans have accessed and developed altered states of consciousness for the purposes of creating sustainable, equitable, empathic and diverse communities.
I write and speak all over the country on this topic and I do so without any concern towards developing my own brand or selling anything. I think we have entered a crucial time in our species' development and wish to contribute my entire being to help us transition from Homo sapiens to Homo empathicus. Like many of the wonderful scholars, artists, poets, teachers, novelists and activists I have come to know, I do what I do out of an undying love and a potentially naive belief in our emergent potential. Not for fame or money. Which makes the following request completely awkward and slightly ironic.
So the rub is, I need to get to San Francisco next week to begin the program. There is a week-long intensive that starts on the 21st and goes through the 27th of August. I just received confirmation of my admittance to the program and subsequently just found out about it.
It looks like it is going to cost around $1500 to pull this off. I have never asked for money and feel strange about doing so now. But if we can pull this off as a community, it will create a circle of intention that will permeate the entirety of my program. I see the work I am doing as OUR work. And the fruits of my studies have always been my offering to my tribe. Whatever I know, whatever I am, is yours. Regardless of whether or not we can pull this off. Regardless if I ever earn another goddamned penny.
There are too many of you to thank individually who are directly responsible for me getting this far. I trust the Universe. I trust my tribe. I hold no expectations and remain grateful and committed to the cause.
