Cynthia Pena-Handson is a wife, and mom to three young men.  She and her family live in "Sinton America," where she is a middle school math teacher at Smith Middle School.  The family is well known and loved in the community. "At some point in our lifetime we’re given a cross to carry that will test our strength, faith, hope and trust in our Lord God.....I have been given my cross to carry .....I will carry it with not only Our Lord and Savior at my side but with my family and friends who love me. I’ve spent the last 9 days in the hospital recovering from major surgery. The emergency surgery was the beginning process in my battle with Stage 3 Colon Cancer. I had a tumor, my appendix and 2ft of my colon removed.. I was released today from the hospital and will begin chemotherapy in a few weeks which is expected to last the next six months.
