CYCLING FOR CHARITY FROM INDIA TO BANGLADESH

On September 15th, I will be travelling to India to take part in a cycle rally from India to Bangladesh.

I will be covering 1008 km in just 16 days!

I am raising funds and awareness for the NGO Snehalaya. https://www.snehalaya.org/

For those of you that don’t know, Snehalaya means 'Home of Love', and it provides support for women, children and LGBTQ communities, who have been affected by HIV and AIDS, trafficking, sexual violence, and poverty.

Over the last few years, I have had the opportunity to visit Snehalaya, spend time with the woman and children, and see first-hand what this amazing charity provides for its community.

Snehalaya is more than an NGO, it’s a strong and passionate family, united in the belief that no one should stand alone.

I am aiming to raise £5000, which can go a long way in helping the women and children at Snehalaya.

Your donations can provide the following:

£10 will pay for vital medication to a sick child for two weeks

£50 will provide one month’s shelter to women fleeing domestic violence.

£150 will keep a girl in school for one full year.

The Sadbhavana Bicycle Yatra (Goodwill Bicycle Rally)

The 1008 km bicycle ride will start in Kolkata, India, and end in Noakhali, Bangladesh. In 1946 Gandhi spent four months in Noakhali on his mission to restore peace and communal harmony.

I will be part of a team of Snehalaya staff and beneficiaries. Along the way we will be staying in temples, gurdwaras and mosques. We will be sharing Snehalaya’s best practice and experiences of developing projects that empower women and children.

The cycle rally is going to be a huge challenge, I have never done anything like this in my life before but it’s for a cause that is close to my heart.
