I have seen this woman work tirelessly and at times having to walk in the cold and rain to get there, when no one could offer a ride or the public transportation wasn't reliable.
I have seen her give everything she can to her job, and still have time and patience to listen when someone needs a friend to hear.
I have seen her struggle to pay bills and basic needs as our paychecks dry up so quickly. Its impossible to save this way.
I was there when she found out an old friend had died from an overdose, and told me, tears in her eyes what a beast addiction is and knowing it could have been her if she hadn't pulled herself out like she did.
Now, with winter coming, our restaurant is preparing to cut hours as we live in Ohio and must prepare for the cold and budget cuts that brings.
I try to offer what I can in encouragement and rides to and from work, but I would like to hand her something lasting.
With this money, I would like to give her the opportunity to pay past debts and renew her license, so she has one less barrier holding her back from moving forward with her life. I am asking for help to lift up a strong woman who has moved mountains, and has only been met with more pushback from this difficult economy, stereotypes, and lack of support.
I would like this to be a surprise for her, as a way to show that all of her hard work is not for nothing and that SHE IS SEEN. Thank you so much for considering!
