Lets Help This Black Farmer Family get Land
Hi, we are the Jzar family. We are first generation Urban farmers in Charlotte NC. We need your help to purchase land. Our farm business is Deep Roots CPS Farm, and our motto is "deeply rooted in the community". Our mission is to supply healthy organic foods to our communities as well as increase the number of Black and Brown people in the food production space. We understand first hand how important healthy nutritious food is for our health and well being and how the lack of access to this food in our community has had a negative impact on so many of us. We are engaged in the community providing food and education. We are a passionate farm family that only needs to break down the biggest barrier to our mission; OWNING LAND.
For centuries black farmers have seen a significant decrease in the agricultural sector due to various historical inequities. In 1910 black farmers made up 28% of all farmers in America, today we are less than 1%. We are asking for help in changing these dismal figures. If you can help our family achieve our goal, you will allow us to purchase a 3 acre property that we would use to continue farming. You would not just be helping our family, you would be helping more black and brown people get into the agricultural field. You would be making a substantial impact on the lack of access to healthy nutritious foods, policy making as it regards black farmers, and workforce development in historically disadvantages communities.
Our family has a core value that we believe in with all our heart, and that is the principle of Ubuntu "I am because we are". We truly believe that we are not who we are by our own accounts, but because of those that have come before us, our families, our friends, our communities, and our environment. We are not individuals as much as we are individual parts of something greater, and with your help WE can prevail. Thank you so much for your consideration and support.
