Ruthie and I have an opportunity to travel to the Philippines together on a mission trip with our church from January 26 – February 5, 2015 and we are asking for your financial help to get us there.
We will be part of a team of ten heading to the Bulacan Province of the Philippines to serve with veteran missionaries Carl and Michelle Gormley. We will assist with a conference being held during this time. In addition, we are hoping to help in the building of an orphanage. The paperwork and materials should be in place for work to begin on the orphanage by our arrival.
Ruthie will be one of three teens traveling on the team. This is truly a leap of faith for her. While I was very excited from the first mention, Ruthie has proceeded with greater caution. She does not like to fly and initially was not interested in participating at all because of this. Aaron and I asked her to take some time to pray and consider the possibility of going. After a week, she decided it would be a great opportunity and excitement is growing.
The trip will cost $3000 per person. Our church voted to cover one half the price of airline tickets and lodging, reducing our personal cost to $1500 per person. We would like to raise an additional $1000 to assist with in-country and preparatory expenses.
We have established a separate account for this trip and set up this GoFundMe page. All monies collected will be used for this trip only. If you donate through the GoFundMe account, please know they take 5% as their fee for the site. If you send a check directly to us, we receive 100% of the money.
Additionally, if you would be willing to send a word of encouragement to Ruthie, I know that would be appreciated as well.
