Ian's Road to Recovery
On Wednesday, August 4th, my boyfriend Ian was involved in a terrible accident that left him with a fractured skull, TBI (traumatic brain injury), and aphasia, which is a common symptom of TBI that affects the brain's ability to communicate normally. Ian was intubated and air-lifted from Ocean City, MD to the University of Maryland Baltimore Shock Trauma Center where he has been in the ICU for several days now.
Thankfully, Ian is making incredible strides in his recovery every day and is on track to be transferred from the hospital, to an in-patient neuro-rehabilitation facility where he can receive speech and cognitive therapy that is needed for a full and speedy recovery.
We are taking this recovery one day at a time and waking each day hoping for the best. Ian is strong, healthy, and determined to make a full recovery, we're hoping to soften the financial blow that can often accompany horrific and sudden accidents, such as this one.
Thank you to all who have sent encouraging words and sweet thoughts and prayers to our family during this time. We can't wait to get him home.
