Helping Baby Elly & Her Family

On January 21, 2013 at approximately 3:30 p.m., a very dear friend of mine gave birth to two precious twin preemie girls (4 lbs and 5.6 lbs). The doctors discovered a life threatening heart defect in one of the girls (Elly) a couple days after her birth and she had open heart surgery at Sunrise Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas, NV. From that day on and through today (18 months later), Elly continues to struggle with her health and has been in and out of the hospital on a regular basis with a number of on-going issues. Her aorta (which was reconstructed at 2 weeks of age) started to narrow resulting in blood pressure, circulation, sleep and digestion issues. Surgery is still expected to help resolve this matter once she reaches a more steady age – and within the next year. Besides Elly's cardiac issues, she has also been battling high blood pressure since birth as a result of repeated bursting of blood vessels in her left ear which was only recently detected. As a result she has no hearing in her left ear and speech delays related to this. As of late, Elly was admitted into the hospital a few weeks ago this time for sepsis.

Admist all that Elly is going through, her family is enduring indescribable stress – emotionally and financially. Fortunately, Elly’s sister (Zoey) is doing good and is healthy along with their two older brothers. My friend has a heart of gold, has always done for everyone and is struggling personally with her own (neglected) health matters. As a very concerned friend, I am compelled to do my part to help her out and her daughter Elly and family to the extent I possibly can. So, I wanted to set up this GOFUNDME.com page and ask for your help in return by making a donation (any amount is appreciated) to assist with their medical and personal expenses. She is not the type of person to ask for help let alone financial help. I believe we can all make a small difference and it starts by reaching out and asking for help.
