Cuts for a cure

So ... I've finally decided to cut my hair.  3 years ago I graduated university and got my first real job and thought "hey .. wouldn't it be fun to grow out my hair for a bit and eventually donate it"

3 YEARS AGO ... I don't think anyone including myself expected it to last that long.  But here we are. So I thought I would try and raise some money as well.

So fast forward to today. As of March of this year, both my parents are now retired. About a month after that, my dad was diagnosed with a form of leukiema.  For those of you who know my dad, this came as a huge shock as he has always looked and seemed at least 10 years younger than he is.  So after a few weeks of testing and a night in the hospital that included bone marrow testing, he was diagnosed with a rare form of leukiema that unfortunately, isn't curable. However, the good news is, it's 100% treatable! With just a pill a day. That's right, no chemo, no radiation and now, he is doing much better. I know that not everyone is that lucky.

The reason I wanted to share this story is because 10 years ago there may have been no treatment for this.  It just goes to show how research and funding can really pay off.  A lot of times people donate to causes and never get to see the results. Now that I've seen the results first hand it's made me realize that every dollar counts.

I'm planning on cutting and donating my hair on August 2nd so I have just over 3 weeks to raise as much money as possible. I've alresdy started collecting donations in person but I thought I would try this to help. If you can please donate or share. Every dollar counts!
