Curtis and Cyrus Chan Memorial

For everyone who attended Campolindo High School in the '90s, Curtis and Cyrus Chan were larger than life figures who positively impacted everyone around them.
We hope you will consider joining us in raising money to install a memorial bench for them at the Moraga Commons Park. While we all know that they will never be forgotten in our hearts, the bench will provide a physical reminder of their enduring legacy on our Campolindo Community.
After high school, Cyrus attended LMU and then became a doctor. He began his General Surgery Residency in 2009 at the University of Toledo and completed a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care in 2014 at The Ohio State University. Cyrus had hoped to complete his residency and pursue a fellowship in vascular surgery. Unfortunately, he lost his 18 month battle with colon cancer in April of 2016.
Curtis attended UCSD and moved to the Los Angeles area after graduation. He worked as a teacher of biology and chemistry, impacting many students during his long tenure at the San Marino Academy, before moving back to the San Francisco area. He loved to snowboard and ride his motorcycle. He joined his brother in July 2020, passing away peacefully of natural causes.
The total cost for the memorial bench and 25 years of maintenance is $2,700. If we raise more than that, those funds will be donated to a selected non-profit in memory of Curtis and Cyrus Chan. The funds will be received and disbursed by Campo classmate, Laura Messerschmitt. Fellow Classmate, Jeff Glickman, has confirmed the availability of the bench with the Town of Moraga. It will be installed at the Moraga Commons Park, near the disc golf course. Curtis and Cyrus (especially Curtis!) loved to play disc golf at Moraga Commons, so Jeff picked this site knowing that it would be a special place for them.
