Isn't it time that we modernize how we remember our loved ones?
There have been great leaps and bounds in the right direction, from Bios Urn burial pods: to the introduction of promession (an eco-friendly alternative to cremation) in other countries. They say that forests and alternative burials will replace graveyards... LET'S DO IT.
Why are there still so many unkempt, environmentally damaging cemeteries? Let's change the way we memorialize our lives. We can do this together by making CURRANT cemeteries a nationwide phenomenon in the US.
Our vision:
- to partner with established brands for biodegradable and alternative burial options:
- urns that grow trees - memorial diamonds - promession companies (coming soon) & more!
- to reduce the harmful chemicals used in the burial process that seep into our ground and water sources
- to provide a modern and comfortable place to remember your loved ones. Let's put the FUN in funeral. Cemeteries are often mistreated because of the "scary" connotation. Our aim is to make them clean and inviting.
- to create a space (and type of celebration of life) where everyone can feel welcome.
- to start in Pittsburgh, PA and create a franchise across the US to truly revolutionize the way we take care of those that have passed (pets, too!).
That's where you come in. Let's replace headstones with something more eco-friendly.
What the funds will be used for:
- land, land, and more land (a PA acre starts at $30,000 per acre, and cemeteries are typically a minimum of 2 acres) - outreach & advertising (physical and digital)
- signage on the property
- burial pods and other alternative burial suppliers
- landscaping and memorial trees, bushes, flowers, etc.
- a memorial house (this will take lots of funding, but we would ultimately like to make a safe place for people to celebrate a loved one, not a dreary funeral home.)
- (eventually) a free school of knowledge (somewhere for everyone to go on Sunday mornings - and all the days in between!)
**Any little bit helps. This campaign will be on-going, as we hope to turn CURRANT cemeteries into a non-profit that expands across the nation, changing the way people think of cemeteries and funerals. UPDATES will be posted here! Look out for social links and a video explaining our vision soon.**
