Cure for Kami -(Kamryns Transplant)
Donation protected
Kamryn Dukes is our 11 year old daughter who was born with Sickle Cell Anemia. Sickle Cell is a blood disorder that causes constant suffering, requires frequent blood transfusions and repeated hospital admissions, for treatment of the many life threatening complications.
The one and only cure for Sickle Cell is a Bone Marrow Transplant. As a family we have been actively searching for a donor for over 3 years through the Be The Match Program.
Last year after finally finding 5 matches, we were devastated to learn that the potential donors were unwilling to donate!
BUT...... we are so excited and grateful to share that through newer methods, our daughter is now able to receive a life saving transplant with my husband being the donor!
With this amazing news, we are quickly faced with the hard truth that even with insurance this proccess is an unbelievable expense!
Unfortunately, we will not be able to work during most of her transplant because we have to limit the number of people we come in contact with during Chemotherapy and throughout her treatment. (for approx 3-12 months)
We are being admitted for transplant in May 2017!
Any donations would be greatly appreciated!
Please feel free to follow our "Cure For Kami" facebook page to follow our journey.
