David's Battle to Kick Cancer's Butt

We’re raising money for:
David Carte's treatment and recovery from cancer.
David’s Cause:
David was having a CAT scan in December 2019 for an unrelated issue in his hands, and a cancerous lump was discovered in a group of lymph nodes that are in the back of his neck. David’s ENT referred him to MD Anderson, the leading cancer center in the world, to immediately address this issue. After many tests and probes, the cancer source was found to be in the base of his tongue and is identified as a Squamous Cell Carcinoma. David works full-time in the IT industry and is also personal chef and baseball coach. He is a single father to his 8-year old son Brooks and 22-year old daughter Charlotte.
Rosie Miller, David’s mother, has come down from Wake Forest, NC to help him through this difficult time. David is having to put his life on hold and relocate to Houston for a few months to take on this battle. His treatment plan will consist of chemo and radiation five consecutive days every week for 6-8 weeks, possibly then followed by surgery.
This will be a long road but can be navigated with a great medical team, state of the art hospital, a little help financially and a lot of prayer from our fierce prayer warriors. Together, this creates a winning game plan for David to allow him to continue his life with his dear family and friends.
How the money will be spent:
The funds that are collected will be used for the weekly expenses of traveling back and forth from Austin and Houston, housing during the week, other daily needs, and what insurance will not cover, which is still unknown. Medical costs can quickly add up and are almost always more than expected. Please know that all unused funds will be donated toward cancer treatment for children.
