Our mama, Christie Von Ditter, is a warrior woman. That’s putting it mildly. Not only has she given so much of herself to her own children and husband as the sole breadwinner in the household, but she continues to care for an ever-growing, always-evolving tribe of family and friends. Now, it’s our turn.
For the better part of a year, Christie has been fighting to find the right diagnosis for her intensifying headaches, spotty vision, nausea, dizziness, and speech changes. It’s been months of emergency room trips, specialist appointments, trial prescriptions and pain, in addition to balancing her daily work schedule. Repeatedly she asked her insurance to approve a CT scan, and repeatedly she was denied.
A week before Christmas and two weeks before the start of 2018, Christie went to urgent care once more and finally got approved for a CT scan of her head, followed immediately by an MRI, followed by a hospital transfer and a consultation with a neurosurgeon. Finally, she has a diagnosis – a large brain tumor in her temporal lobe, suspected with nearly 100% certainty to be brain cancer…. Its technical name is Glioblastoma, though you are all welcome to refer to it as a Gliobastard.
Our Mama Cee is a warrior woman, and this fight against cancer will be no exception. Neurosurgery is imminent, followed by chemotherapy and radiation. Your assistance will go a long way in kicking medical costs to the curb. Additionally, Christie will be unable to work as she rests and undergoes treatment, so your donations will help our family tackle household expenses as well.
