Van for Eric and Lauren Melton

SAFE ACCESSIBLE VEHICLE FOR ERIC & LAUREN: I am writing to ask for HELP for my Uncle Eric and Aunt Lauren. At age 19 my uncle was left paraplegic after a car accident. He had life threatening injuries which kept him in the hospital for over a year. He is such an inspiration to me, never complaining even though he is in pain every single day. He has always been there for me and the rest of our family, trying to help any way he could. Fifteen years ago he met and married his soul mate, Lauren, who in high school also became paraplegic due to a serious viral infection that attacked her spinal cord. They both try to be very self-sufficient and don't like to ask for help, but over the last few years they have really struggled: they lost their home to foreclosure, both have medical issues that have required many hospital stays. Even with all this they continue to try and work and still do not complain. Aunt Lauren drives a 1998 Volkswagen Golf that is constantly breaking down and needs repairs. To top it off, when it rains the floor gets flooded. She is also starting to have joint problems from lifting her wheelchair over her body in and out daily. Uncle Eric's van has all sorts of problems too: the lift gets stuck sometimes which leaves him trapped for periods of time and it has many engine problems. A NEW wheelchair accessible van costs close to $60,000. If we could just help them get a low mileage, safe, accessible van it would be the greatest Blessing! This is why I'm asking for YOUR HELP.
