Sam & Tyson's Baby Fund

Donation protected
As some of you may know, Sam and I have been friends since childhood, shared many great memories, and supported each other through some difficult times. Samantha and Tyson are very excited to welcome their second baby girl into the world. Unfortunately, with recent news that their new little one, still in the womb, has Polycystic Kidney Disease, they are about to embark on an uphill battle. The first month will undoubtedly be the most trying both emotionally and financially. I am very concerned for them. The compassion I have in my heart for Sam and her family has compelled me to seek out other friends who share this feeling with me, as I feel they could use some help from friends and family :)

The doctors at Victoria General have informed Samantha she will need to have a C-section, as little one's right kidney is 10 cm at the moment, causing her little belly to be 8 cm bigger than it is supposed to be. A natural birth could cause the cysts to rupture. The doctors have said once baby is brought into the world, they will be looking at the severity of the situation (concerning eating and bowel movements) to decide how soon baby will need to have her kidney removed. Their estimation is the day after birth. Sam will be in hospital for 5 days for a routine C-section; however, baby will be kept from 2-4 weeks, if everything goes as planned. If it is more serious, baby will be transferred to Children's Hospital in Vancouver.

I hope collectively we can fundraise enough money to help this couple with their many upcoming expenses. The family is faced with reduced funds from Tyson needing to take a leave of absence from work to help Sam, new baby, and little Nevaeh; gas and travel expenses up the Malahat for a month; and childcare when necessary for their little Nevaeh (I know Nana plans to help out when she is not at work, but she cannot help every day), and any extra expenses that may incur during this time—parking, buying medicine, or eating at the hospital when necessary to stay close to the baby. I hope that we can all assist this family to make the journey a little less stressful by helping with the financial burden.
