We have worked for an amazing child care center, Community School for People under Six (CSPU6) in Carrboro, NC for many years. On September 24, 2020, CSPU6 will be a semi-century year old (50 years). We want to celebrate and honor the long history and legacy that this child care center has built; and help sustain it to reach its jubilee year in 2020 and beyond within the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Community.
Community School (www.cspu6.org ) serves ages 2 months to 8 years old. It has a multi-cultural, community-based philosophy and has served thousands of children of diverse racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds through the years. We have become a growing community that cares about each other; and shares a common interest in the education and learning of the children we serve and the families and staff that pour into the lives of each child every day.
CSPU6 has struggled since its inception. The UNC cafeteria workers and graduate students fought for quality child care when we were established in 1970. With great determination, leadership and team support, we are still here! However, we are faced with financial challenges that could close our doors before we reach our jubilee year. With enrollment and early childhood system changes, economic crisis through the years and renovation cost after being displaced to keep our doors open 10 years ago, we have outstanding debts that our operating income cannot cover. Your support will help us: 1) maintain high quality care and education for our children; 2) maintain well-educated and experienced teachers with Bachelor's degrees; 3) reduce our debt load and tax liabilities; and 4) allow us to celebrate and continue to serve our children and families for 50 years and beyond.
We need your help! It is a non tax deductible contribution; but the value of your contribution will be seen each and every day in the learning and growth of our young children; and the appreciation of those families who need our care and services.
