Benny's Angels

We are the friends of Benny Shepherd Jr.  At least some of them. There are many, too many to count, but some of you might not be aware of his situation.  Benny and his family need his friends' help.

Benny was diagnosed in September with inoperable cancer.  He is resting at home, and Vera is trying to make him as comfortable as possible.  Benny was in the hospital for two weeks in September and since has made numerous trips to the ER.  He accepted his doctors' advice to forego chemo or other treatments.

Benny is one of the greatest athletes in the storied history of Northside High School athletics.  His toughness and courage are legendary.  More important than that, he is one of the great ambassadors for Fort Smith because of his sterling character.  His humility is such that you never would learn about his great achievements from him.  He always talks about the great teams he played on and the great opportunities Northside offered him.

We are asking you to give back to Benny.  He and his family need your timely help to cover the cost of his medical care.  Benny was the caregiver for his father before his recent passing, and he was caring for his mother until he fell ill. 

We realize these are rough times, but please contribute what you can.  Benny never would ask for anything for himself.  We, his friends, are asking for him.
