Mom stabbed for college funds
Donation protected
Sharlena Martinez was on her way home with her young grandchild on Tuesday evening, August 5, 2014 and she was attacked and her purse was stolen right in front of her own house. The attacker stabbed her 17 times trying to get the purse away from her and she was critically injured. Her son, Tyshon, 18 heard her cries for help and ran out to see what happened and he found her injured.
Ms. Martinez was not worried about herself when relatives visited her, all she was concerned about was the $500 that was stolen from her purse. The money was earmarked to pay for college supplies for her son Tyshon to attend Rochester Institute of Technology. He is slated to start school in just a couple of weeks.
It would be a great help to the family if they could replace the funds that were lost in the robbery, as well as to help cover medical and other college related expenses. Please consider making a donation, no matter how small to assist this family while they heal from this terrible tragedy.
