Crystal's Mayo Clinic Support

Spende geschützt
Crystal has struggled with an undiagnosed autoimmune disease for the past 4 ½ years, since August of 2012.

When the illness began with bizarre symptoms, she believed it was something that would soon pass. When it didn’t pass, she and her family were certain that they’d find answers and treatment soon. The list of symptoms grew and became more significant.

For almost 5 years, she has seen countless doctors and neurologists, endured testing year after year, regular blood work and checkups, and more. While they have continued to find answers, to no avail, she has endured random flare-ups and “episodes”, where symptoms are heightened and oftentimes debilitating. The flare-ups come unannounced, and are happening more often. Still, no answers.

At this time, the only relief doctors can offer is to treat her symptoms, which has been trial-based and somewhat of a shot in the dark. Crystal has tried various dietary changes, supplements, and more to ease the pain, weakness, fatigue, and frustration.

At this time, symptomatic treatment, along with exercise and prayer are getting her through. Every day is a struggle for Crystal and her family, but we have hope that she will find healing.

While her doctors and neurologist believe that what she suffers from is Multiple Sclerosis, there is not enough evidence to diagnose. At this time, her doctors have exhausted every effort within their powers to find answers to what is plaguing her body. They have decided to send her on to the specialists at Mayo Clinic.

Crystal has been offered an appointment at Mayo Clinic’s neurology department in Rochester, Minnesota on August 22. They will see her that day, and schedule testing and further diagnostic efforts during the course of the following days during her stay there.

This is a huge blessing! It is our hope that the doctors at Mayo can determine the cause of her symptoms and begin to treat it, giving Crystal her life back.

Crystal has been told by Mayo Clinic to expect to be in Rochester for anywhere from a few days, to a couple of weeks. There is also the possibility of her having to travel back there, depending upon their findings, in the months to follow.

While her family is optimistic about seeing the specialists at Mayo, finances are burdening their decision as to whether or not to keep the appointment.

Crystal is a freelance Christian writer, works from home with Christian authors and speakers, and also works part time at a local bakery. She had to alter her work life when her illness became too much for a full-time job outside of the home. The demands it placed on her body were simply too much. Her husband is a youth pastor, and they have three growing children.

They have chosen to dedicate their lives to serving others in ministry, but the financial burden from Crystal’s illness has often been a struggle. Co-pays and medications are draining.

The trip to Rochester to seek a diagnosis and treatment is out of reach within their means. Crystal is one of the most giving people I know; she well deserves others to give back to her! My best friend needs our help! Pray and Pay the way for doctors to work the miracle my sister needs in her body. Any amount helps!

For your generosity, anyone who donates $100+ will receive a super cute t-shirt as a reminder of this wonderful lady and her cause.

On behalf of my beautiful sister, Thank You!! For your time, prayers and donations!
