Crystal's Chance at Life

Crystal, a 36-year-old mother of five, was hit hard by a death sentence given to her in September of 2022: Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer.

Since the confirmed diagnosis she has been doing everything in her power to fight for her life. There is no cure for this type of cancer.

Her only shot at survival is a FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND clinical program at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago where she can receive a double lung transplant.

This opportunity means everything—it's her only chance at beating cancer. But it's demanding that her family uproot their lives from small town Cisco, Texas to move to Chicago, Illinois by next week December 10, 2023.

Once in Chicago, Bryan will be Crystal's primary Caregiver and unable to work until her recovery time has passed.

The living expenses in Chicago far exceed what Crystal and her family are accustomed to handling.Their income barely covers the basics. After paying for necessities like the car, health insurance, and bills, they're left with very little. Rent alone in Chicago takes up most of their budget. Crystal does receive a small amount from disability but over half of that money goes towards necessities such as car payment, health insurance, phone bill, etc. They have scaled back in every possible way and will still only be left with around 1k a month to cover housing, utilities, food, and gas. The average cost of a 750 sq ft apartment in Chicago is $2,309.00.

Before Crystal’s health started to decline, she was deeply involved in her community, a devoted mom, and an active church member and Sunday school teacher for over 10 years. She's fought hard and is determined to see her children grow.
