Cure Crohn's with Itraconazole?
Donation protected
Recent research points to the fungus Malassezia as a cause of Crohn’s disease. It’s thus possible that using an existing and inexpensive antifungal drug called itraconazole cures Crohn’s disease by clearing Malassezia from the gut.
A small study has already reported that itraconazole caused remission in four out of five Crohn’s patients (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1365-2036.2010.04444.x).
To know if itraconazole can definitely cure Crohn’s, we need to run a double-blind placebo controlled study with more patients. We’re raising funds to run this study at a university research center. The cost estimate is 600,000$, and the study should take 1.5 years to complete.
Help make this study and a cure for Crohn’s possible!
To learn more, you can go to www.malassezia.org , a website which Martin (Laurence) setup to explain the science behind this.
Thanks!
