Hello, my name is Chryshel Mundy and I am a Sophomore at West Charlotte High School. I am in the International Baccalaureates Program, Secretary of Sophomore Student Council, a member of the Varsity Volleyball team, and in Right Moves for Youth. Another important part of my life is JROTC; I am an Assistant S1 and Platoon Sergeant in the West Charlotte Army JROTC Battalion which holds me responsible for 28 cadets. I am an active member of these activities while maintaining a GPA higher than a 4.2. Having maintained these accomplishments, I was recently selected to become a Student Ambassador in the People to People Program.

People to People Student Ambassadors Program was founded by Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956 to give everyday citizens of different countries opportunities to meet and get to know each other, resulting in understanding, friendship, and lasting peace. This life changing program sends many students from sixth to twelfth grade to all seven continents. Students travel overseas to learn more about various cultures and are permitted to access regions of the land that are otherwise restricted to tourists; for example, exploring the Vatican City. In the summer of 2014, I will travel to Europe to visit Spain, France, and Italy for 20 days with the People to People Program.

This trip consists of not only sightseeing but also helping physically and mentally challenged children, repelling off a seventy foot tower, making native cuisine, playing volleyball with native students, and staying with a Spanish family for a day. The 20 day sojourn is packed with transforming activities that teach unity and risk-taking. Being able to be a part of something as special as this is a once in a lifetime experience.

In order for me to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity, we will need to raise $8,000. This money will cover all of my expenses during the trip; it covers air travel, lodging, food and emergencies. In an effort to reach this goal, I have created a fundraising website that will easily allow supporters to contribute to our goal http://www.gofundme.com/crmp2p. Additionally, my family and I have planned several fundraising opportunities throughout the year.
