On Saturday, July 18, Twelve members of the Thin Blue Line Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club were injured — three of them fatally — in a head-on crash on a Texas highway.
The person that crossed the center stripe has been arrested for several counts of intoxicated manslaughter and intoxicated assault. Those killed and injured were struck HEAD ON.
Sgt. Joseph Lazo is a police officer with the Niles Police department, a suburb outside of the City of Chicago. He is also a beloved fiancee, son, uncle, brother, and a friend to so many.
Joseph was admitted to a Texas hospital trauma ward where he remains as of today (07/20). He sustained critical injuries mainly to his entire left side, and most importantly his leg.
Due to COVID we, (his siblings), are stuck in Illinois trying to navigate our brothers injuries and the uncertainty of what his future looks like given how badly he has been injured.
Police work and helping the community is his entire world. Our ultimate goal is to get Joe back home so we can start to heal from this catastrophic tragedy.
Joe was not only critically injured, he lost his brothers in the accident and will carry this with him forever.
There is a chance that our brother will never be able to go back to active duty to the job that he loves so much. All because of the selfishness of 1 person, so many lives have been shattered.
Any funds raised will go to medical, therapy, and care while our belolved brother is recovering and put towards the uncertain future ahead.
Thank you for all of your prayers, support, and love during this tragic time. Thank you to TBL LEMC Family for everything you have done.
