Critical Care for 4,800 Tibetan Refugees in 2020

Our Mission: Provide access to quality healthcare for the socially and politically isolated Tibetan Refugees.

Endorsements: Patient Care Trust (PCT) has the confirmed blessing of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. PCT’s Board is chaired by His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, the Dalai Lama’s representative on many international issues.

About us: For 8 years, Patient Care Trust has been the only NGO medically advocating for the Tibetan people: providing access to quality, pro bono treatment for critical medical problems and organizing medical camps to remote settlements.

Our Story: Our founder Sonam, himself a refugee from Tibet, personally saw his aunt deprived access to proper life-saving medical treatment because of social conditions. Now an exile in India, he saw how families were facing the same situation: language barriers, economic hardships, and geographic isolation.

Tibetan Health Statistics: PCT-Treatable health crises such as cancer, heart disease, and organ failure will claim the lives of at least 500 Tibetans next year, with another 1,300 will face medical poverty. Another 3,000 in remote settlements will be without critical medical care due to isolation. PCT requires $102,500 to continue providing access to quality healthcare to this marginalized community.

PCT Patient Success Story: An unemployed 33-year-old Tibetan single mother of two had severely diminished sight and mobility; to the point of near-total blindness and debilitation, in addition to severe headaches. At the best public hospital in her province, she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and was told she was terminal. Not accepting this, the woman sought out PCT. PCT secured a pro bono brain surgery for her 2 days later at a world-class hospital in Delhi. Her surgery was performed by one of the most qualified neurosurgeons in India. She made a full recovery and saved upwards of $6400. This would have put her family into extreme medical poverty.

Where PCT’s funding goes:

·      35% for medical camps to remote Tibetan Settlements

·      20% for Staffing

·      15% for equipment

·      10% for Operation Costs

·      10% for Special accommodation programs for destitute Tibetans, recent Refugees, and Nuns and Monks.

For Tibetan Culture to survive, its people must be alive. Help PCT save 4,800 families from facing death, poverty, and inaccessibility next year.
