Cremation & Memorial Services for Aja

Our dear friend Aja X. Harris passed away on Sunday, February 3 peacefully and surrounded by loved ones. As friends who have known Aja for more than 20 years, we created this GoFundMe account to raise money for her cremation, her memorial services and to get her to her final resting place.
Aja was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin. She was a graduate of East High School. She was 37 years old at the time of her death and faced chronic and debilitating health challenges all of her life. On Saturday, Jan. 19, Aja made the decision to enter Agrace HospiceCare in order to relieve her suffering due to her failing kidneys.
She never got married or gave birth to any children. Her mother passed in 2008 and her father currently lives in Colorado. Unfortunately, Aja and her family are unable to cover the costs for cremation and a service to honor her life.
As women who love Aja, we asked for and received her permission to set up this GoFundMe account while she was still alive. Barbara Franks of WI has been a dear friend to the Harris family all of Aja's life. Tanya Lopez of IL and Rebekah Stephens of WI have known and loved Aja since high school.
All donations are appreciated and no donation is too small.
Aja has been a loyal, kind and loving daughter, sister and friend to many. We humbly ask her community for support to help raise enough money to cover the expenses for the following:
1. Her cremation and government costs associated with cremation, including but not limited to the Dane County cremation permit and death certificates
2. Obituaries in both the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the Wisconsin State Journal
3. A modest home-going celebration that includes both a memorial service at a local church
4. A catered repast at a local community center.
5. A memorial program keepsake for those who are able to attend the service
6. Costs associated with removing her belongings from her apartment.
7. Subsidizing costs for lodging in Los Angeles, which is where Aja requested her final resting place be.
GoFundMe requests we provide the following information for full transparency: Tanya Lopez will responsible for withdrawing the money raised into her bank account and will distributing the funds directly to vendors. Receipts will be kept online and available to guarantee prudent use of funds raised.
