Hello family and friends, I Ivette come to you with a heavy and broken heart. I received a call yesterday that my sister Mimi was found in her apartment deceased during a Well Check. It was reported they she passed of natural causes. My sister had been sickly for many years, but overall was managing the best she knew how. The last conversation she had with us, she sounded well and in good spirits. So to receive this call suddenly just before the holidays and with the circumstances the country is going through with Covid-19, has made this much more difficult for us to handle. Most of our immediate family lives in Florida and she is in Chicago, IL. I spent most of the evening yesterday on the phone with her only son, my nephew Eddie, doing our best to figure it all out from a distance. To make matters worse this past week Illinois was closed down again due to Covid-19.
Financially all of our family members as well as everyone else in the country has been affected with job loss for long periods of time, some more than others. I personally was off for two and a half months returning with minimal hours. Unfortunately my sister did not have life insurance. We are in need of help, any donations will go primarily towards the expenses of cremation and any other expenses that may be incurred to finalize everything.
In these strenuous circumstances, we are asking if family and friends can come together and help us by donating to get through this very difficult time. It saddens me terribly that we are unable to be together as a family or even able to have a memorial to celebrate her life at this time due to Covid-19. Our hope is to try and have a memorial service when it is safe to gather at some point in the future. With the holidays upon us and unable to travel due to Covid-19 and many of us with underlining conditions, we will inform everyone at a later date when it is safe to do so.

My sister known to all as Mimi was so blessed with a very creative and talented mind for the arts. She drew beautiful drawings and made beautiful paintings on canvases, even in 3D. She painted with much detail many different figures made of plaster, porcelain or clay. She could make amazing flower arrangements and could even sew, she made dresses for my daughter Nikki when young and for her granddaughter Elsie. She also enjoyed cooking and sometimes was creative in that. She truly had an eye and imagination for the arts and could add her touch to anything even on furniture.
She had a heart to help others and gave her time to teach others arts and crafts even when she needed help herself or felt unappreciated or lonely. She was known as the artist in our family, her legacy of inspiring the art's will carry on with her nephew's and granddaughter. Although she struggled a lot in life, with her health and in family relationships, deep inside family did mean a lot to her. She loved every opportunity she could get to be with family and her precious grand babies, that was priceless to her.
I will miss you Sis, our talks and how you made me laugh. Your memory will always be in the boy's and my heart. We are blessed to have a few pieces of your art to remind us of your gift, beautiful work and heart!
Rest in Peace Sis, no more suffering, no more pain, your whole in the arms of Jesus now!
