I am an artist and poet volunteering to run the art and craft workshop at Akwaaba. We run it twice a month at Hackney and twice a month at Queen's park to be more accessible to our members (migrants, Refugees, Asylum Seekers and homeless people). We are welcoming English people as well as we believe we are one community. We have a very big diversity in our group which allows us to know more from different cultures. It is a safe and warm place to make friends, be creative and learn English at the same time. The painting improves our member's mental health and well-being.
We offer art material, Hot meals and travel expenses as most of our member lives far and can't afford to come or buy food. We try to reuse plastic bottles and draft papers to make artwork. We buy second-hand cloth. Then, we paint it to help our members to have unique cloth. We play with the clay to make mugs. We hope to have our exhibition in 2023. We run this workshop for one year now. We dream we can run it for another year. We cannot run it without you. We need your help to continue.

Will our dream come true?
