What's the Creations Concert? An amazing event which unleashes the innate creativity of every student! The collaboration of musicians from all ages/levels breaking down traditional concepts of "talented" and "untalented”, making musical creativity equally accessible to all. We have a great time discovering original music that may sometimes be hidden away in our human collective. About 35+ students compose songs that are arranged and performed by our Faculty Jazz Ensemble and the chamber ensemble HyperPrism (under the baton of Adam Torres, DaVinci Center faculty, CSU faculty, Loveland Opera, St. Louis Symphony) and Canciones, a Latin piano/vocal duo with Victor Mestas (International Grammy winner) and Elena Camerin Young (International jazz vocalist). Together we all manage to create a 60 minute awesome concert! This year short videos of each student playing their solo songs will preface their arranged pieces in the live (and live-streamed) concert. You can be anywhere in the world to view the Creations Concert.
There are a few links below that give a good idea of what to expect at the Concert. These include songs by solo composers and group Harmony Classes with students performing on stage with the pros. From the 2018 concert, some highlights are "Captain Monkey" composed by a 7 year old Gabriel, and "The Magic Garden" composed and sung by a 10 year old Uma, and "Deep Dark Forest" by a 5 year old Harmony Class group, and also "Ruby Violin" composed by Sophie, age 15. From the 2019 concert, the finale "Skipping Through the Woods" is a great song composed by 11 year old Emma, who plays her song on stage with the jazz ensemble and then the song is reprised with orchestra and Jazz Band for the final bows.
