CREATION & COMMUNITY

Hi my name is Winona Summerville and over the next couple of weeks i will be painting a community funded mural on the exterior wall of Lanii & Co, located at 1/99 Anita Ave Lake Munmorah. Abigail Griffiths owner of Lanii and Co, brought the idea forward to me with the hope of bringing some colour to our community walls whilst also advocating for our local environment!

The mural will be open for voluntary funding, 50% of all money raised will be donated to the CEN (Community Environment Network) a non-political, non-for-profit organisation whose mission is to support and sustain our local environment and community groups across the Central Coast. The CEN works to improve

ecologically sustainable development of our land, wildlife and waterways. It is crucial for us to protect the health and wealth of our natural wonders and ecosystems as they provide our community with such life and beauty. CEN is the chosen organisation as it focuses greatly on so many of our surrounding suburbs and in such depth, it is in confidence to say that they are covering all bases when it comes to taking care of our region. Donations will be directed towards the projects taking action in areas of Lake Munmorah, Chain Valley Bay, Budgewoi and Norah head; reaching out to our beaches through National parks and to our lakes. The regeneration of native plants, protection of our oceans, lakes and rivers, and the improvement of biodiversity and wildlife habitats is so important and CEN provides the love it needs! We co exist with such a broad array of flora and fauna in this area of the coast and I think that is something to be grateful for.

By painting this mural, I hope to express my love for our area by celebrating the colour and textures and life that is all around us. Creating this and connecting with our community, as well as participating in the donation to the CEN is something I look forward to!

There will also be a donation box available in Lanii & Co’s store if you are in the area and would prefer to donate personally.
