Ava Davis, my daughter,  was involved in a horrific car accident on May 21, 2014, on Highway 4, in northern California.  At first look, she was assumed dead at the scene.  After cutting the car open, with the Jaws of Life, to remove her body, a paramedic realized Ava had a faint pulse.  They felt at the time she would never make it to the hospital alive.  They decided to try, and air-lifted her to a nearby hospital.  Ava spent a month in the Intensive Care Unit of the Modesto Memorial Hospital, a trama center in Modesto California.  While there she endured seven operations, due to a dislocated right eye, fractured neck, fractured rib, busted left knee, broken right wrist, left leg broken in five places, broken thumb, and left shoulder shocket shattered. Our family and many friends prayed that she would survive the trama of these surgeries.  She did.  Our family was told, by hospital staff, that it was a total miracle she survived at all.  She is wearing a neck brace and has been told by her surgeon, "do not move your neck." Over the weeks she is now able to sit up, but only with a back brace, and the neck brace.   Ava must wear her neck brace all the times, until her neck heals in place.  Kaiser will check and x-ray her neck this August 20th. She can now feed herself and is learning how to walk again.  Ava requires  assistance for all other activities.  She will need a full time nurse when she goes home.  Total rehabilitation may take a year according to her care providers. The surgeons and staff at Modesto Memorial appear to be gifed to be able to pull her through this.  Ava was the main bread winner in her home and worked as a multi-site property manager for the last several years.  Ava loves animals and people.  She owns two pitbull dogs and helps others whenever she can, including her live in daughter.  Ava has medical insurance, but it will not cover all of her medical expenses.  Our family is setting up this site to help her be able to cover these cost, in addition to her current and up coming care cost, also to make ends meet (rent, food, travel costs).  Ava is presently in a Kaiser Acute Rehabilitation Facility.  Thank you for your prays, comments and financial support in advance.
