A Heart is her Destany!

In 2010 at the tender age of 22 Destany was diagnosed with stage 4 Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy which is a form of Congestive Heart Failure.  Having just recently married and graduated from Texas Woman's University, she didn't understand why God would put such an illness in her body. Between 2010 and 2011 her heart continued to worsen which left her no choice but to get a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) implanted December 2011. After only 8 days including day of implant, Destany was released from the hospital. By the grace of God, she was able to continue to work, be active with her then 3 year old and live a more quality filled life. In October 2013, her medical team discovered a blood clot in her LVAD which is extremely dangerous. She was immediately admitted into the hospital to await a heart. The clot continued to enlarge which resulted in an emergent LVAD replacement in November 2013. Destany was not able to recover as quickly as the first surgery, however God kept His angels around Destany and she was able to recover and be released from the hospital 64 days later.  In February 2014, Destany began to show signs of right side heart failure.  After several test and blood work were done, her medical team confirmed that she is in the early stage of right side heart failure. She is NOW waiting for God to allow the PERFECT heart to come her way.

Destany loves being able to talk to, mentor, pray with, or just be there to support individuals and their families who are on the heart failure journey. While patiently waiting for her perfect heart, Destany will continue to volunteer her time at Baylor University Medical Center Dallas as she has for the past 3 1/2 years. 

Destany NEEDS your PRAYERS as well as your monetary support! Although the actual organ is donated the SURGERY, MEDICATIONS, BILLS, and other medical necessities are not.  Destany will be on anti-rejection medication, steroids and other very expensive medications for the remainder of her life here on earth.
