Jody Burks and Jacob Cox family

As I'm sure you're all aware, Hurricane Harvey wrought havoc on the entire Houston area. The Burks-Cox family are all safe, but their home is not. Jody, Jake, and kitties had to evacuate by boat. They only recently made it back to survey the damage.

"We have been back to survey/clean/demo, and it's a disaster.  [...] There was 3-4 feet of water and sewage, depending on the location in the house, so it's a total gut job."

Flood remediation is expensive, and their homeowner's insurance doesn't cover it.  With your help, we'd like to help them defray the cost to repair their home and replace lost possessions.

1. I'm David Johns. I was a classmate of Jody and Jake at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science from 1994-1996. I am originally from Texas, but am currently living in Toronto, ON, Canada.

2. My intention is to relay funds directly to Jody so that they can be spent as she sees fit. The intention is to defray the cost of making the house livable and replacing damaged possessions. However, I'm not earmarking any of this stuff or holding it in a separate account or anything; I'm just planning to turn it over directly to Jody.

3. My intention is to send GoFundMe's "beneficiary invitation" to Jody so she can just withdraw money directly. If that doesn't work out, I'll be withdrawing funds to my account and writing her a check.
