COVID Takes Our “Nana”, Help Lay Her to Rest
Patty Daws, known lovingly as “Nana”, was deeply in love with life and family and her joyful spirit will be irreplaceable. Patty, a born-again Christian, loved celebrating the works of Christ through her church (Family Bible Church in Marshall) and volunteered every week with Lighthouse Ministries through the church.
God blessed us all with Patty for 57 years but sadly the COVID virus took her after a two-week battle. She passed peacefully at Oaklawn Hospital on March 6, 2021. She continues in life through her husband Don and four adopted grandchildren (Ciara, Jolee, Eden, and Liam) that she and Don have been lovingly raising in their home in Marshall. Patty and Don, both retired, spent 37 years together opening their home to anyone who needed help. When the family learned that Patty tested positive for COVID-19, we knew she had an uphill battle as she was already struggling with a debilitating disease.
Funeral expenses during these pandemic times are costly and shocking when a loved one is taken so suddenly. After many years of Patty giving to the community and her endless devotion to family, we are asking for donations to help Don lay “Nana” to rest and help Don continue to raise their youngest adopted grandchildren Eden, Jolee and Liam to adulthood.
Given COVID restrictions on funeral and burial, Don is looking at cremation through Henry’s Funeral Home in Battle Creek, Michigan. Estimates are expected to exceed $6000 which include cremation, cemetery costs, and headstone.
