Izzy Needs a Home

Hi I’m Angela and this is Izabella, my granddaughter who I am raising. Recently I have received an eviction notice, which is understandable but the timing is terrible. The house our family has been renting for almost three years has become unaffordable due to not being able to pay the rent and utilities, thanks to no tourism this summer. I have three rooms in the house set up to rent to visitors, two have been on AirBnB with very few guests considering the virus situation, the majority have been locals needing shelter in this pandemic at a very reduced rate. My plans for the house, now that most of my kids and grandkids have moved away, was to use the house in the winter months as a temporary shelter for women with children. Besides using it as an AirBnB in the summer to bring the funds in to cover the rent and utilities through the winter months for the shelter. Those plans are not going to happen, at least not here. I hope that someday I will be able to help women with children who are struggling with homelessness as I did for five years. But now once again I am facing homelessness with multiple disabilities and a grandchild to care for with a low income being on SSI. I need help. Not all who are homeless have addiction issues, some of us (like me) have disabilities and low income. I’m an autistic woman who battles with fibromyalgia and a yet “undiagnosed” neurological disorder that prevents me from walking well when I have a “flare up”. I’m not on rental assistance but I am applying, even though there is a long waiting list. Izabella and I cannot wait that long. One of my Air BnB guests is a local who is happy to continue renting a room from me a n our new place, which will afford me the ability to rent a home with a yard for Izabella to safely play in and our two small dogs. Any amount you can help with is HIGHLY APPRECIATED! We just need enough to cover first and last rent and a deposit, which in this town is not cheap, I’m looking at $3000-5000 on top of what I have. Prayers are appreciated too!
