COVID 19 Recovery for Steven and Rani Merens

Dear Family, Old Friends, New Friends and Friends we have yet to meet,

I am writing to ask for your help for my brother, Steven Merens and his wife, Rani. Steven is in the hospital struggling to battle Covid 19 and pneumonia. Rani has late stage MS and is bedridden needing total care. She also has Covid 19 but thank God is asymptomatic.

Steven has been Rani’s primary caretaker up to now,  taking care of all her needs even though he himself has severe hip and back issues and walks with two canes. Through it all he does his best to make others happy. He is kind, giving and lives to sing to make you smile. He is a very special man and loved very much by his family and friends.

Their two incredible children, Jennifer and Drew, have always helped out as much as they can. And then came Covid 19. These past several weeks have been incredibly hard for Steven,  Rani, and their family.

Jennifer is a front line nurse, who while she AND her husband both had the virus,  continued to go over to my brother’s home to monitor Steven’s vital signs, take care of Rani, and make sure they both had what they needed. Then she would take care of her husband, who was hit much harder with Covid than she was,all before she went to work.

Drew has helped with Rani’s care for years now. For many years he and his wife lived with Rani and Steven to help out. They now have a home of their own and are foster parents to two children working to adopt them both. Needless to say, Drew has been unable to physically help since his parents were diagnosed with Covid 19.

We are asking for help for the mounting hospital bills, the care Steven will need when he returns home and for getting more help for Rani as it will be a long time before Steven is able to take care of her, and for help with cooking and cleaning. Your support of any amount will help relieve Steven’s anxiety so he can focus on just getting better and will go a long  way toward their care.

Please keep Steven and his family in your positive thoughts and prayers. They very much need it right now.
