Jordyn Vazquez is a new mom battling COVID-19

Donation protected
My niece, Jordyn Vazquez, 27, tested positive for COVID-19 Sept. 14, and delivered her first child that same day via caesarean section. Her husband, Maury, waited in a separate room to receive the baby. Praise God, baby Enzo, was not positive for COVID.

After giving birth, Jordyn's COVID symptoms initially improved enough for her and baby Enzo to return to their home in Omaha, Neb., by mid week.

However, just a few days later, Jordyn began experiencing shortness of breath (oxygen saturations dropped to the 80s) and a fever and was seen in the ER. She was later admitted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center where she also works as an RN in the solid organ transplant unit.

No one, including her husband, Maury, has been allowed to visit her in the hospital. Maury, along with the help of my sister, Laura, are caring for baby Enzo at home.

Jordyn is alone on the COVID unit and continues to have worsening symptoms from COVID-19. She is on oxygen after being diagnosed with pneumonia. She also developed a serious  infection in her C-section surgical site. Doctors reopened  her abdominal surgical site again to address the infection and she now has an open wound with wound VAC.

She is also experiencing cardiac issues with her heart rate dropping significantly and even stopping for several seconds at a time. Her medical team at UNMC are treating a multitude of issues.

Jordyn and her husband, Maury, are in need of financial assistance to help with rising hospital bills, co-pays, and lost wages.  Anything you can give to help ease their financial worries will be greatly appreciated.

If you are not able to give a financial gift, another way you can help is to send Jordyn and family an encouraging message here.

Also, please keep Jordyn in your prayers, along with her husband, Maury, and his 7-year old twin boys Logan and Gabe. Please also pray for my sister (Jordyn's mom ) Laura and her husband, Joedy, and all of the extended family as they face this incredibly difficult time.
