Covid 19 Face Shields

On March 18th I initially reached out to the Oswego Emergency Response Team (ERT) with an offer to help. Well in two short weeks things have gone well, and we are now delivering about 50 Face Shields a day to the Oswego County Emergency Response Team.
While local manufacturing companies are now starting to make face shields and other Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as they recognize the market but please remember, our hospitals and local healthcare providers have to pay for that equipment when it comes online. The PPE that our effort is providing is at no cost to our healthcare providers, allowing them to use those funds elsewhere.
>>>Please note this a critical point: While the field of volunteers making face shields and other PPE has expanded greatly, the supply of plastic for the face shields is drying up. Other states and even countries are now competing for the same materials that our local companies are.
The suppliers now are forcing us to purchase stock that isn’t even in their warehouses yet. We initially purchased 200 sheets of polycarbonate for the visors at $1265 and 25 rolls of 3D printing filament and transferred 50 sheets of polycarbonate to SUNY Oswego who is also making shields for Oswego County.
All of that consumed most of the funding from the initial campaign. In order to guarantee that we won’t run out of visor material I have had to place another $1,000 order of polycarbonate which has put our funding in the negative.
Please assist us in doing the right thing for our local healthcare providers! If you can help with a new or renewed contribution, please do that! If all you can spare is to share the GoFundMe campaign that would be greatly helpful as well.
