Last week, an urgent trip to the vet with a sick Donut got a diabetes diagnosis. We began a treatment for that, but he continued to decline. That landed us in the ER vet with an another much scarier issue - diabetic ketoacidosis. When it came down to it, we were left with the choice to come up with an estimated $10,000 for them to hospitalize him or he wasn’t going to make it. Donut is only three years old, and we were not ready to give up on our beloved chaos monster.
We’re committed to the lifestyle change of feeding him and giving him insulin injections at the same time, twice per day, every day, but we just need him healthy and leveled out to get him home to begin that.
At this point, he’s been hospitalized for a couple of days and we are looking at probably one more but things are looking promising! During our last visit, we saw light and energy in him that we had not seen in many days which was quite the relief! However, him still being there and the cost continuing to grow puts us in a tough place. We’re committed to doing what we need to do to get him healthy again, but we do have quite a road ahead of us with a now special needs boy.
We are looking at an estimated $8-10,000 (or more) bill. We know this is a big expense to take on for a pet, but we could not bring ourselves to part ways with our favorite silly little gremlin just yet.
Any small amount of help would be so appreciated, and if you can’t give right now (we know finances are tight for everyone at the moment) please consider sharing this fundraiser on your social accounts.
