Newlyweds lose everything, 1 still fighting 4 life

Hello my name is Jon ,I’m here to share a story of two of my close friends who this past Friday ( August 5th 2022) woke up to find their apartment building was on fire . Jess and Joez were married this past fall and were just starting on their life journey together, When they were awoken at 4AM by the smell of smoke and after seeing the aftermath they were lucky to have made it out alive . After Joez woke his wife he led the way lead way to the front patio that was already engulfed in flames. Shortly after his exit he realized she had not made it out of the building . Quick thinking , He grabbed the hose watered himself and the patio down and ran back in to get her. She had passed out from inhalation and had landed behind the door where he had to move her body weight out of the way to get in and get her . The burns he has sustained are a direct result from the rescue . As of today (Aug 8th 2022 ) he has been released , but his wife is still in the hospital with severe injuries she is currently on a ventilator because her lungs are damaged from smoke inhalation . Her vascular system is very dry , Her wounds have gotten deeper and she will need skin grafts. They are now watching her very carefully for pneumonia.
Jess is one of those people who lights up a room . She is loving and caring. She has always had a fondness for children and elderly . She is smart and warm and kind . She goes out of her way to make sure others are taken care of before herself .
Joez and Jess have lost everything in this fire , including their pets . I started this go fund me to give them a fighting chance to get back on their feet . The money will be used for any hospital/ rehab costs their insurance does not cover as well as basics such as shelter , clothing and food for the hope of rebuilding their lives together isn’t as painful as what they’re currently going through.
