Counselling & Animal Assisted Therapy for people
Donation protected
I run a practice offering Counselling and Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) to individuals 11 years old and over. This can be for issues like Depression, Anxiety, Autism, Phobias, PTSD, OCD, issues with relationships, Bereavement, Abuse etc. Some people can't afford to pay for therapy so I'm raising money to help those who need that extra help.
Having a Therapy pet present throughout your Counselling session can bring about great health benefits and can help build confidence. When stroking a pet, key feel-good hormones are released, relieving stress and anxiety. AAT can help lower blood pressure, increase mood and so help with Depression, lower your anxiety and decreasing panic attacks.
Therapy pets are a great helping build individuals confidence and they can teach how to socialise with other humans. They are brilliant motivators and can help build your self-esteem. Cats can help maintain and bond relationships. They do this by modelling how to interact and show you how to become aware of body language cues. Then the client can learn appropriate behaviour to improve their human interaction. Cats are also particularly great at helping humans relax, as their purr is a natural and unique way of assisting humans with calmer balanced breathing.
There is now evidence AAT and Counselling definitely works, and this evidence is increasing, as more people become aware and have the therapy.I have a small dog and cats that are perfect therapy assistants.
If you would like to donate to this good cause then this will help people who cannot access therapy immediately or cannot afford to pay.
Waiting lists can be anything from 8-12 weeks for Counselling and Animal Assisted Therapy is not always readily available
