Cotton's gender affirming Surgery Fund

Hi! My name is Cotton Obake Roach, native to Brooklyn, NY. I’m a Black trans-woman, first generation daughter of immigrants, and community organizer. I’m also DJ & producer who has been celebrated for my music (https://soundcloud.com/cottonroach), but I have lost a lot of financial opportunities due to the pandemic and resulting economic crisis, including many cancelled gigs and a postponed country-wide tour. Beyond just the pandemic, increased white gentrification in the city and its party spaces has made it impossible for me to support myself in my music career. In this global moment of spiritual and political reckoning, I believe it’s important now more than ever that I am able to live freely in myself, my body, & my truth without relying on validation from white people and their structures of oppression. 


I am trying to raise $20,000 for gender-affirming surgery and my wellness after it, including recovery, rent, and financial backing given the fact I’ve lost many gigs due to COVID. Please donate as you can and share with your networks!
