Cory Blakey-Tew Memorial Fund

Mia (left), Molly (middle) and Cory (right) are brothers and sisters, both Mia and Cory were diagnosed with an extremely rare condition RARS2 gene disorder, Dean and Leanne their parents both gave up work to care for their children, Dean a qualified carpenter and Leanne a Prison Officer. Mia and Cory have had numerous battles throughout their young lives with Dean and Leanne constantly by their sides along with their adoring little sister Molly. On 08/02/2024 Cory took his last breath with both his parents with him. He fought so hard to the bitter end but his little body was just too fragile and he left this world for what we all hope is a place where he can run free and fly high. This fund is to allow Dean, Leanne, Mia and Molly to try and have a bit of fun in Cory's memory and create lasting memories. As parents of a disabled child they were rightly entitled to benefits to ease the financial burden of looking after 2 children with complex needs. As soon as a disabled child dies the benefits are stopped this has plunged Dean and Leanne into financial hardship (losing half of their income) whilst they are trying to grieve for their son and support their remaining children as best as they can. I am hoping this fund will in some way go to reducing the financial pressure on them and allow them the breathing space they need as a family to process the great loss they have suffered and find a pathway through the grief. Anything you can give no matter how small will be extremely gratefully received. Thank you for taking the time to read, most of us will never know the intense pain and suffering of losing a child and hope we never do, but to go through that whilst worrying about money is unfathomable.
