Corrine Huston's Cancer Battle

In August our mother, Corrine, had to get a CT scan because a rash she had developed and the doctors wanted to make sure there was no internal infection. In that scan the doctor had said that they found something that might look like cancer. She was able to get in for a PET scan in September to check the entire area, and in October she went in for a biopsy.

The biopsy confirmed all of our fears, our mother had been diagnosed with Stage 3B lung cancer. The cancer had moved into her lymph nodes so surgery would not be an option. Because it was in her lymph nodes the doctors ordered an MRI to make sure that it had not entered her brain, thankfully it hadn't.

We originally met with two Oncologists to get their treatment options, both of them being the same thing. She had decided to go with Green Bay Oncology because she could have her treatments done in Sturgeon Bay. We had all of the appointments set up and ready to go when my mother got a call that she would not be able to use them. While this was a bit of a set back it may also have been a blessing in disguise. We were able to get her in with Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, IL. After having a 3 day consultation we had decided that was the right place to go.

Corrine will need to go through Chemo and Radiation as well as Immunotherapy afterwards to build her immune system back up. The Cancer Treatment Centers is a wonderful place as everything she needs is all in one spot. They have a chiropractor, hair salon, counselors, meditation, hypnosis, and many other amenities to help her recover.
