Hello Friends and Family,
I'm sure most of you have been keeping up with the events of Hurricane Harvey and the devastation it has caused millions of people living in Houston and the southeast Texas coast. My parents, Bob and Sally Cornforth, have become two of those victims as the entire first floor of their house and most of their belongings at 127 Paul Revere Dr. have flooded. This is the same house they've lived in for 37 years and the house where all three of the kids, myself, Carrie and Annie grew up. Here are some additional pictures of the house:

To a certain extent it is still too early to tell what the overall cost of the damage is to the property but it will undoubtedly take multi-thousands of dollars to get it back in livable condition. There are many questions left to be answered: What are the costs? Should they contine to try to live there at all? How do they begin to replace the total loss of the contents of their home? Where should they go in the meantime?
What I do know is that my parents are far too proud to directly ask for any assistance from their friends and family, which is why I'm doing this for them. I don't think it's really settled in yet that they've literally lost everything. There is no flood insurance money coming (it's never even come close to flooding before). They will have limited support from their homeowners policy that will cover a few things due to wind damage and the like, and probably a few thousand dollars from FEMA. That is all. They live on a fixed income and had a great deal of their wealth tied to their house which they hoped to sell in the next 5 years to fund their next phase of retirement. Now that entire plan is in serious jeopardy.
We have offered our house in Austin as a place for them to come to begin to put the pieces of their lives back together, but eventually they will want a more permanent place to live. And of course all three of the kids will be helping with their money and/or time to see them through.
Many of our friends and family members have asked how they could help. The easiest way at the moment is to give them some extra funds to make the next few transitional months a little more bearable. These funds could be used to replace clothes, household items, or a few months of rent in an apartment.
A few extra dollars here and there could go a long way to help them get settled again somewhere and begin to replace items lost in this historic storm and subsequent catastrophic flooding. I plan to collect the donations and pay them directly to my mom and dad via check or wire. This has all been so overwhelming for them. If you could see in your heart to donate I know all of the Cornforths would be eternally grateful. One way or another we will get through this tragedy, just as millions more Houstonians will.
