Cord Blood Saves Lives!!
Please help us raise money so we can save the cord blood from Elandra's baby. Cord blood can be used in place of bone marrow for transplants. Unfortunately, storing it is very expensive! If we had saved Elandra's cord blood, she may have been able to use that instead of waiting for a donor and avoided going through all the transfusions and treatments she had to go through for Aplastic Anemia. Elandra's pregnancy is nothing short of a miracle. Along with being pregnant, she has been dealing with Aplastic Anemia, PNH and "smoldering leukemia". She will need a bone marrow transplant in the future to live a long, healthy life. She is currently undergoing treatment for the PNH in the form of the most expensive drug in the world. PLEASE take the time to educate yourself on cord blood/stem cell storage and its many uses to SAVE LIVES and if possible, donate to her cause! So many people have been incredibly supportive to our family with their thoughts and prayers and that's all we've ever asked for. But now, the time has come for us to put aside our pride and ask for a little help to achieve our daughter's wish of saving the cord blood and stem cells for her precious little angel. Heaven forbid the day ever arises that she will need to use it but if so, it will save a lot of pain and suffering and could save her life or the life of someone else. Smoldering leukemia: A condition in which the bone marrow does not function normally. It does not produce enough blood cells. This condition may progress and become acute leukemia. Smoldering leukemia also is called myelodysplastic syndrome or preleukemia.
