Cookin’ Soul: An amuse.me Journey

Eden, the First Eternity of amuse.me - my canvas for life’s art - is about the story of how I found God. I now ask for help along my walk. It begins and ends with the kitchen.

Cooking has been a passion of mine for an eternity. My earliest memories are of learning recipes with my father to prepare for our daily family dinners. He had a talent for creating space and bringing people together; every night was an event. I take that ethos towards life.

Cornel West once said real Christians die daily. We face our being, and let the pieces we love enough go. My journey continues with capturing a vibe of service and living a journey of inspiration.

Love found me at my local community enrichment program. Every Tuesday I would teach math at my local church, cooking up problems in real time for curious students to solve. In a similar spirit, Thursdays were prep days. I would cut up vegetables for ‘Unc’ to chef into a dinner for 700 Philadelphia youth. The space we curated was their playroom - freedom from the terrors of a life in the street. To me, it was life itself. Feed, and I was fed with the care of a community that adopted me as family.

Cooking is food for my soul, and my meals are delights to the palette. The entrepreneur of my youth will feed the people of Naples with Love and American-inspired classic Italian dishes. This is my journey. Soul food, a vibe, and a pocketful of stories will accompany me in living my next eternity: Love Differently.
