Convoi D'Aide Alpin

Convoi D'Aide Alpine aims to mobilise the spirit and good will of the Savoie and those who live or visit its majestic mountains to collect and deliver aid to the beleaguered people of Ukraine.

Time is short and the need is urgent. Poland and other neighbouring countries have been overwhelmed by the scale of the humanitarian crisis - the largest mass migration since the second world war.
Governments and Aid Agencies are mobilising in support but these are large organisations that take time to get organised and to scale up.

In the meantime it’s down to ordinary people like us to step up and help out.
We are running an aid convoy after the lifts have closed at the end of the ski season, sometime in the week commencing 25 April. We’ve chosen this moment because we know that local alpine companies have lots of surplus stock, like food, that they can’t hold over to next season.

It may seem odd that a Convoy is asking for cash rather than aid packages but here’s why:

First up we want to make sure that everything we deliver is actually necessary and needed. By having cash we have the flexibility to source goods nearer the time that we know are required.

It also means that we can source goods closer to the point of delivery where we may be able to get more for your money.

Another important consideration is the environmental burden of shipping goods 2,000km from the Alps to the Ukrainian border. It may seem crazy to worry about the environment when people are in desperate need of help but we think we can and should do both - for all our futures.

Then there’s the logistical costs - fuel, tolls, food etc. We promise to make sure that every penny we spend getting aid where it's needed is well spent and fully accounted for.

Once we’ve purchased aid and covered the costs of the convoy any surplus cash that is left will be donated to a charity in Poland run by our friend Szymon Makuch. He's fundation "Fundacja Bieg po Emocje" has been involwed in helping Ukrainian refugees since the very beggining of the war. You can check his brilliant work on Instagram under @charityultrarunner. He will use the founds collected here to purchase the necessary aid and transport it to those in need.

Thanks so much for getting involved ! Together we can move mountains !
