Lend a Hand to B.'s Higher Healing Journey

Beloved Community,

 

At the start of March while visiting family in Atlanta I was admitted into the hospital, I returned to NYC for treatment and care after a life-threatening Lupus flare and fatal drop in blood platelets.

 

The cause of the flare points to possible infection in addition to over work. It’s been a year of supporting community and loved ones as a somatic healing therapist, steward of an institute, mediator for organizations and communities moving through conflict, and care support as a retreat/workshop facilitator helping folx ground in the midst of so much turmoil. Needless to say, I found myself in burnout and my immune system has been severely impacted.

 

With an intention to shift my priorities and to return to my own health, my ability to work has been reduced quite drastically. This, however, comes at a time when my health needs some additional financial support beyond my current capacity.

 

I just completed my third of four weeks of intravenous immunotherapy treatment for my Immune Thrombocytopenia and Systemic Lupus. While we won’t know yet if the treatment is working to correct, potentially for good my drop in platelets, as of now the platelets are remaining at a healthy quantity of 240,000.

 

After my final treatment next week I will remain in NYC to be monitored and treated with two rounds per week of IV Vitamin drip. A formula often given to those who have undergone chemotherapy or additional immunotherapies that deplete immune systems.

 

Once treatment is completed I will return to my small home on the hill of the Blue Mountains in Jamaica to rest, recover and restore my health outside and away from large cities. There I will continue to have my platelets monitored and IV vitamin infusions as well as Ozone therapy through the remainder of the year or additional therapy where needed.

As I will need to continue with treatment through until the end of the year, an expense I hadn't anticipated, I am fundraising to support the costs of my ongoing health and medical care.

 

Once my health is restored, I will return to the work I love, seeing clients and supporting the community in a more sustained and life giving way.

 

My medical and health care costs include:

• Doctor appointments (out of pocket) with rheumatologist + hematologist in Jamaica
• Lab work and testing to track platelets
• IV vitamin and ozone treatment
• Oral vitamins and prescriptions
• Transportation to and from appointments
• Maintaining healthy nutrition
• Mental, emotional, and spiritual health consultations

 

My desire is to heal and make change for a more grounded, full and health filled life.
